Celebrating Passover while Social Distancing

2020 is shaping up to be a year full of surprises... the biggest one of course being Covid-19 and how it has changed all of our lives, no matter where we live. Up until a few weeks ago, I was planning to celebrate the Passover seders with my family in NJ and my husband's family in MA and then the girls and I were going to spend the rest of the holiday in Florida. Now it's looking like we'll be staying home in Brooklyn as we're still in this time of social distancing. But that doesn't mean we have to sacrifice having beautiful seders and a meaningful holiday celebration. (Keep reading until the end for some tips and resources on how to celebrate Passover during the pandemic!)

With so many things happening in the world right now, I'm choosing to focus on the things I can control. And for me that means making the holidays extra special for my family, no matter where we're celebrating this year! Whether you plan to celebrate with your immediate family, hold a virtual seder, or even prepare a seder for one, your home and table can still look beautiful! The table is the center of that celebration and I am so excited to collaborate with Peace Love Light Shop to share inspiration for my Seder Table this year.

I set my seder table using the Embroidered Silver Matzah Cover from Peace Love Light Shop. I was inspired by the vines on the matzah cover to create a look that symbolizes the start of spring and rebirth, two themes of significance on Passover. The Matzah Cover, which is crafted in Spain and 100% linen and cotton, is so beautiful and classic. The shop also carries a matching Afikomen bag that would be a perfect addition to my table. A new item that I love is this set of Ten Plagues Napkins - they’re both practical for spilling ten drops of wine while reciting the ten plagues and that they also add that special touch to the seder table.

I also embraced the spring theme by adding touches of greenery with succulent napkin holders, blush pink napkins, and peonies in the center. I stuck with a simple color palette of grey and pink. The pale grey tablecloth and grey runner perfectly accents the silver in the matzah cover. The napkins and napkin holders added the perfect pops of color! I am in love with all of the Michael Aram Seder Plates that are available in the shop. This is the gorgeous stainless steel Orchid Seder Plate that we have and it can be used as a serving platter year round. This gold Pomegranate Seder Plate is another favorite of mine! And if mixing metals is your thing, you’ll love this gold and silver Palm Seder Plate!

Here are a few resources that I am using as I plan what my family’s Passover 2020 will look like:

Although this Passover will be a unique one and we may not be gathering with family and friends as we had hoped, our celebration can (and should) still be meaningful and special. I wanted to share these beautiful pieces (including seder plates, kiddush cups, matzah covers and more) from Peace Love Light Shop in hopes that we will soon be able to think about the beauty of Passover. You can shop the items below and use my code ARIELLOVES for 10% off at checkout before Tuesday, 3/31. The shop is also offering free shipping on any purchases over $50.

Let me know what you’re planning to do in the comments. I’d also love to add resources to this post so send me any ideas and inspiration! And above all, stay safe and healthy!
