Rainbow Playroom Reveal!

I’m so excited to finally share our playroom with you! This is actually the first room in our new apartment that I am revealing on the blog! Ever since we moved over the summer, we’ve been making progress on lots of different house projects, but the biggest priority was working on the spaces for the kids. This is the first time we’ve lived somewhere with space for a playroom, and it was actually one of the things that sold us on the apartment! Ever since the pandemic began, we’ve been spending more and more time at home, so it was important for us to have a dedicated place for all of the kids’ toys, costumes, and arts and craft supplies. We mostly used items we already had, but we did get a few new pieces for the space. Keep reading to see how we transformed our empty basement into the girls’ rainbow playroom!

Girls' Shared Bedroom Reveal

I am so excited to finally share photos and details of the girls’ shared room! This post has been a long time coming! After Noa started consistently sleeping through the night, we knew she was ready to move into the same room as her big sister. We hadn’t really made any changes to Adina’s room since she was a baby, so this was the perfect opportunity to give the space a makeover. 20 Places to Shop for Matching Kids Holiday Pajamas

When I was a little girl, my mom used to dress my sister (who is 19 months younger than me) and me in matching outfits all the time! While I didn’t mind that much, as I got older I definitely wanted to express my individuality and dress myself uniquely. Fast forward 20 years and 2 kids of my own later, and I can totally understand why my own mom loved dressing her daughters in matching clothes with each other (and sometimes even with her own outfit!) I have so much fun putting my girls in matching or coordinating looks and to be honest, it makes my life a lot easier when I can just buy two of the same item. I know the girls won’t want to dress alike or match with me forever, so I’m going to do it for as long as I can while they’re still little! It’s especially fun for me to find matching pajamas for the girls to wear during the holidays. It’s such a great way to get them excited and into the festivities. Easy Back-To-School Lunch Ideas

Adina is officially back to school and that means I am officially back to preparing her lunches everyday. We got this new lunchbox for her in May (it only took me nearly 9 months of her going to preschool to get a real lunchbox) and used it for the last month of school and during the summer when Adina was at camp and it was a huge hit! Not only did she love her colorful bento-style lunchbox, but it actually made making her lunch a lot easier for me! Keep reading to get 6 easy and healthy meal ideas that your toddler will love!

There are so many different approaches and methods to potty training out there. In this post I’m not going to tell you how to actually potty train your child, but I will share what we did and what products helped us have a smooth and successful experience.

Tips for Traveling with a Toddler and Baby

When we traveled to Mexico for 5 days earlier this year, it was our first trip as a family of four. To be quite honest, I was a bit nervous about traveling with a four-month-old and a two-year-old. It had been a year since my toddler’s last flight and it was our infant’s first flight ever. The flight was direct from New York to Cancun and was just under four hours. I worried and wondered - would Adina throw a tantrum on the plane? Would Noa cry the whole flight? In this post, I’m sharing what we did to prepare for the trip as well as tips we learned along the way that helped us travel smoothly with a toddler and a baby.

Noa's Sleep Journey

For the first four and a half months of her life, Noa was a pretty good sleeper. But by the time she was 6 months old, she was waking up several times a night and I was at my breaking point. Sleep deprivation is no joke! It was one thing when I just had one child but now with two kids, it was impossible to rest and catch up on lost sleep because someone was always up! I knew I needed to make a change! I decided to reach out to my friend Emily from Sleep Wise Consulting to help us make a plan for our family and get Noa back on track. Emily is also a mom of two (who happen to be similar ages to my girls) so besides her professional expertise, I knew she could relate to what I was going through from personal experience. With her help, we went from unintentionally co-sleeping to having our baby sleep for 12 hours straight in her own room in the course of 3 weeks!

Noa's Newborn Photos

It’s hard to believe that our little babe is already 6 months old! It feels like she was just born yesterday and somehow I blinked and she’s already half way to one! I was feeling nostalgic and couldn’t help myself so I started looking through Noa’s newborn pictures. She (and Adina) has grown so much in the last few months! Of course it’s exciting seeing her reach all new milestones like rolling, sitting up, and eating solids. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss those sleepy newborn days a little bit. I’m sharing Noa’s newborn pictures in today’s post. Keep reading if you care to walk down memory lane with me!

My Favorite Feminist Children's Books

Books are a huge part of Adina’s life! Before she was born, we asked guests at my baby shower to bring a book in place of a card and to write a special note inside. By the time she was born, we already had a full bookshelf full of books in her nursery! Fast forward 2 years and her collection has only grown bigger and bigger! We look forward to reading 3 stories before bed each night and Adina loves picking out her favorite books. In anticipation of special days on the calendar and holidays, we’ll read specific books to get excited. For example, before her birthday, we read lots of books about birthdays and leading up to Chanukah and Passover, we read books with those themes. In honor of Women’s History Month, I wanted to share some of our favorite feminist books that I’ve been reading with Adina.

Adina's 2nd Birthday!

Adina’s second birthday was on October 26, 2018, just 2 days before my due date with baby #2. I didn’t know if I would have had the baby by then, so we didn’t want to plan anything too extravagant. Birthdays are a big deal to me so I knew I still wanted to do something special for Adina. But since I was going to be 40 weeks pregnant, I didn’t want to risk planning anything too involved. (Although my friends joked that if I went into labor, at least the hospital was only a few blocks away!) Subsequently, I didn’t give birth for another 2 weeks, but since Adina was born at 39 weeks, I was prepared for it to happen at any moment. With this in mind, we wanted something fun and easy and planned a birthday celebration at the park near our house.

How to Prepare Your Toddler for a New Baby

One of the most frequently asked questions I have gotten since Noa’s birth, is how Adina has adjusted to being a big sister. Truthfully, I had a lot of concerns about how the transition would be for her. Not only is she our firstborn, but Adina is also the first grandchild on both sides of the family and was used to having all of the attention on her for the first two years of her life. So naturally, I was worried that once the new baby arrived, there could be some feelings of jealousy or even animosity directed towards her. Now that Noa is over two months old, I can say confidently that the transition for Adina (and really for our whole family) has been so smooth and better than I ever imagined!

Toddler Learning + Fun with Playboxes!

Earlier this summer, my friend Dina sent me a package from Playboxes and I’m so excited to partner with them on this blog post. A Playbox is a curated box of toys based on your child’s age and developmental stage. Each of the toys is handpicked by child development experts and it comes with an explanation of each of the toys and ways your child can learn with them. Dina asked me about Adina’s age and interests ahead of time and a few days later, we got a box full of new toys that she couldn’t wait to play with!

Fire Island Independence Day Recap 2018

July 4th fell on a Wednesday this year, which made planning a getaway to celebrate a little tricky. Do you go away the weekend before into the beginning of the week? Or plan something for the end of the week? Last year we took Adina to Fire Island for her first 4th of July and had the best time! We decided to continue the tradition and spend a few days leading up to Independence Day in Fire Island this year.
