Tasteful Baby Toys

March 06, 2019 by Ariel Stein in Motherhood + Baby, Home Decor

There are so many baby toys on the market to choose from, it can be overwhelming! The sleepy newborn days go by so quickly and before you know it, your baby is already rolling, reaching, and playing. Many options out there tend to be bulky and bright rainbow colors, which I don’t love for a couple of reasons… A) I live in a city apartment and have limited space and B) I have pretty neutral decor so the brightly-colored toys tend to be an eyesore. That’s why I love when I find toys that are tasteful and easy to store. The perfect combination of form and function! In this post, I’m sharing some of my favorite baby toys that are both functional and beautiful!

Wooden Play Gym

I love this toy for a few reasons! First off, it’s wood! So many other play gyms are plastic and have crazy bright colors. I’ve been trying to use more wooden toys for the girls and this neutral color palette fits in nicely with the rest of the decor in my home. Secondly, it’s collapsible and easy to store. You can fold it up with one hand and it barely takes up any space, which is really important to me since my living room doubles as our playroom. Lastly, it was easy to assemble and available on Amazon with 2-day shipping! Noa loves grabbing the wooden animals that are hanging from the gym and it’s been easy for me to bring the play gym with me from room to room since it’s so lightweight.

Plush Lamb Playmat

We received this cozy animal playmat when Adina was a baby, but we left it at my parents’ house so she could play with it whenever we visited them. On one of our recent visits, she asked if we could take it home with us and I didn’t think twice about it! This playmat is small, lightweight, and beautiful. It's made with furry ears, sweet faces and huggable bodies that offer a soft and safe spot for tummy time or snuggling. Since we’ve brought it back to our home, Adina loves laying on it with Noa and having some sweet sister cuddles. I also love that monogramming is available - this playmat would make for a really great baby gift.

Roam Free Foam Play Mat

These play mats are seriously so beautiful, you would almost think they were designer rugs, rather than mats for kids. Why do I recommend these mats to friends over other ones out there? They’re durable, expandable, wipe clean, and most importantly - they’re safe for baby. Since we don’t have a separate room for the girls to play in, our Roam Free Play Mat helps define a playspace for them in our “open concept” apartment. We can add or remove pieces like a puzzle depending on what room it’s in. They also come in plenty of colors and designs, so there’s an option for every style!
