Adina’s second birthday was on October 26, 2018, just 2 days before my due date with baby #2. I didn’t know if I would have had the baby by then, so we didn’t want to plan anything too extravagant. Birthdays are a big deal to me so I knew I still wanted to do something special for Adina. But since I was going to be 40 weeks pregnant, I didn’t want to risk planning anything too involved. (Although my friends joked that if I went into labor, at least the hospital was only a few blocks away!) Subsequently, I didn’t give birth for another 2 weeks, but since Adina was born at 39 weeks, I was prepared for it to happen at any moment. With this in mind, we wanted something fun and easy and planned a birthday celebration at the park near our house.
Luckily, the weather in late October was still pretty nice, so we were able to have a fun party for Adina with all of her friends at our local playground. We served pizza and cupcakes and had some juice boxes and snack pouches for the kids to enjoy. I loved the peach, mint, and gold color scheme we chose for the party table. The mint tablecloth was the perfect backdrop and looked great with the flower print dessert plates and black and white paper goods. We kept things pretty simple for decor with a banner that said “Adina is two” across the table, a large rose gold #2 balloon, and had a bunch of colorful balloons to add to the festivities. The birthday banner cake topper and gold #2 candle added the perfect touches to her cake (which we ordered from Whole Foods bakery!)
Adina’s friends had a great time playing on the jungle gym, going down the slide, swinging on the swings, and playing in the sandbox. Both sets of grandparents joined us and the highlight for me was watching Adina blow out the candle after we sang her happy birthday. I can’t believe it’s been a whole two years with our Adina Lila! She is an inquisitive, sassy, and sweet little girl who loves books, babies, and bagels. She loves to sing and dance, play pretend, and gives the best hugs and sweetest kisses, grabbing both cheeks with her little hands. She literally melts our hearts multiple times a day and she is loved so much! 💗 Happy birthday, my love! 🎂
