Fire Island Independence Day Recap 2018

July 4th fell on a Wednesday this year, which made planning a getaway to celebrate a little tricky. Do you go away the weekend before into the beginning of the week? Or plan something for the end of the week? Last year we took Adina to Fire Island for her first 4th of July and had the best time! We decided to continue the tradition and spend a few days leading up to Independence Day in Fire Island this year. It was so different going out there with a 1.5 year old this time than with an 8 month old last year. Keep reading for a recap of our getaway and for photos of our festive looks!

Adina’s toddler joy on the 4th of July was through the roof! ❤️ She swam at the beach and in the bay with her papa, built sand castles and collected shells and rocks, ran around with her aunt, uncle, and grandparents, ate corn on the cob for the first time and fell in love, watched the annual Independence Day parade, and just had the time of her life! 💦

I remember spending July 4th in Fire Island with her last year and she was just starting to sit up on her own and wasn’t even walking or talking yet. It’s hard to believe that next year, her little sister will be with us at that same stage and Adina will be almost 3 years old (and knowing her, a full-blown threenager!) 🇺🇸 Can't wait to continue this tradition for years to come!
